Faculty of Technical Sciences Students from Novi Sad Complete Internship at Orao
Students Mia Mihajlović and Tijana Demonjić from the Faculty of Technical Sciences (FTN), University of Novi Sad, enrolled in the Mechanization and Mechanical Design Engineering study program, are currently completing a ten-day internship at Orao in Bijeljina.
According to their mentor, Stefan Marković, Mechanical Engineer at Orao, the internship provides the students with the opportunity to explore all company departments, gain insight into the company's operational processes, and actively participate in selected engineering activities.
"During the first days of the internship, our third-year FTN students had the opportunity to observe the complete workflow within Orao. Our Industrial Product Development Department will help them understand how we process requests received from the Overhaul Division, prepare technical and engineering documentation, and how these projects are further developed in the Production Division into fully engineered products," said Marković.
Student Mia Mihajlović explained that she chose Orao for her internship to further expand the knowledge and practical skills she had acquired during her university studies.
"Every day at Orao brings new and valuable experiences. We are introduced to different departments, and this internship will significantly contribute to my professional development," Mihajlović stated.
Her colleague, Tijana Demonjić, believes that the internship has provided valuable practical insight into the engineering field she intends to pursue after completing her studies at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad.
"This internship at Orao is extremely important for me because it is one of the companies where I could see myself working in the future. My specialization focuses on the design and development of various machines and mechanical components, and this practical experience allows me to apply my academic knowledge in a real industrial environment," Demonjić added.
Founded in 1944 in Pančevo, Orao was soon relocated to Rajlovac, near Sarajevo, where it operated until 1992, successfully maintaining aircraft engine overhaul and manufacturing activities, including throughout the challenging wartime period. In 1995, the company was relocated to Bijeljina, where it continues to operate today.
Today, Orao is recognized as the only company in this part of Europe specializing in the overhaul of aircraft turbojet engines, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and supported by a highly qualified team of engineering and technical professionals.
