A contract for the overhaul of aircraft engines has been signed with the Ministry of Defense of Republic of Serbia
Today, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, PhD. Nebojsa Stefanović, attended the signing of the agreement between "Orao" JSC Bijeljina and the Logistics Directorate (J-4) of the General Staff of the Serbian Army, "Jugoimport-SDPR" state-owned company on the overhaul of VIPER aircraft engines for ORAO and G-4 Super Galeb aircraft.
Minister Stefanović assessed that the contract signed today, which value is 3.7 million euros, represents the most significant individual contract that the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Army have with one of the companies in the purpose-built industry from the Republic of Srpska.
He pointed out that the contract on engine overhaul will enable the usage of an additional number of ORAO and G-4 aircrafts in our Air Force, which is in line with the continuation of the aviation modernization project.
- Along with the process of modernization, this is one of the key projects that the Ministry of Defense wants to implement this year and in the coming years, in order to increase the capacities not only of the Air Force but also of the entire army. Also, in this way, it is practically invested in the "Orao" JSC Bijeljina, which in this part of Europe can only carry out the overhaul of this type of engine - said Minister Stefanović, adding that investing in this project is at the same time helping the fraternal Republic of Srpska.
Minister Stefanović points out that today, with the partners from the Republika Srpska, they talked about organizing a visit to other industry companies in the Republic of Srpska.
- We talked about the fact that we will soon have meetings with other representatives of companies and that we might visit some of the companies like "Kosmos" and talk to them about what is new that can be provided in joint cooperation, and which will increase our trade., our industrial cooperation. What is our priority goal is to increase the capacities and capabilities of the Serbian Army. I am convinced that we will continue the strongest possible cooperation with the Minister and other colleagues from the Republic of Srpska very soon - Minister Stefanović pointed out.
The Minister of Economy and Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Srpska, Vjekoslav Petričević, thanked Minister Stefanović for the indicated hospitality, emphasizing that a contract was signed today with "Orao" JSC from Bijeljina, only one in a series of contracts that the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia has so far concluded with that and other companies in the purpose-built industry of the Republic of Srpska.
- We also talked about further activities that are aimed at being realized this year. We will continue our cooperation in the future in mutual interest - said Minister Petričević.
Along with Ministers Stefanović and Petričević, the signing of the contract was attended by the Assistant Minister for Material Resources PhD. Nenad Miloradović, and the contract was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Army by the Chief of Logistics (J-4) of the Serbian Army General Staff, Brigadier General Srđan Petković, on behalf of "Jugoimport-SDPR" state-owned company Assistant Director for Economic and Financial Affairs Danijel Pantić and on behalf of "Orao" JSC general manager Mladen Stojanović.
