“Orao” Marks Company Day – Mrkajić: Our Company Is of Strategic Importance to the Republic of Srpska
“Orao is a company of strategic importance to the Republic of Srpska. We possess vast capacities and significant potential for growth, and in the coming period we will demonstrate even greater achievements in the field of aviation and the aerospace industry,” said Orao General Manager Marko Mrkajić at today’s celebration of October 30 – Orao Company Day in Bijeljina.
Following the memorial service and wreath-laying ceremony at the monument dedicated to Orao employees who lost their lives in the Defense and Homeland War, Mrkajić emphasized that the company holds great importance for the Ministry of Defence of Serbia, with which it has maintained long-term cooperation.
“We are a strategic partner of Serbia, performing aircraft engine overhauls for its air force for many years. Our company employs more than 350 experts across various fields, capable of meeting every technical and operational challenge. Each new anniversary of Orao represents a fresh beginning – another step toward a bright future,” stated Mrkajić.
He further highlighted that Orao maintains excellent cooperation with the local community and the institutions of the Republic of Srpska, stressing that it is a socially responsible company always dedicated to supporting its employees and their families.
Željana Arsenović, President of the Bijeljina City Assembly, congratulated all Orao employees, recognizing the challenges the company has overcome throughout its long history.
“I congratulate all employees and management on this important and meaningful anniversary – eighty-one years of existence. Many generations have worked at Orao and left their mark, and I wish the company continued technological progress and success in the future,” Arsenović said.
Bijeljina Mayor Ljubiša Petrović expressed pride that Orao’s headquarters are located in Bijeljina.
“To the company’s leadership and employees, I wish good health and stable business results despite major geopolitical challenges. It was a tremendous effort to relocate Orao from Rajlovac to Bijeljina, but these people succeeded. I wish Orao continued growth and prosperity, because that is the true guarantee of success,” said Petrović.
The program marking October 30 – Orao Company Day began with a memorial service and the laying of wreaths at the company’s monument dedicated to employees who perished in the Defense and Homeland War. Afterward, a ceremonial luncheon was held, where Director Marko Mrkajić and Deputy Director Mladen Stojanović presented awards to distinguished employees and long-standing partners of the company.
A special token of appreciation was presented to long-time associate Slavomir Vukićević, who also served as the company’s patron saint godfather, as well as to employee Dalibor Drinić for his exceptional contribution to the company. Posthumously, an award was presented in honor of Slavko Kovačević, former head of the Laboratory Department at Orao.
Numerous congratulatory messages were received by the company, including one from Mr. Milorad Dodik, who emphasized that through continuous development and quality, Orao has become a leader in its field, representing an important pillar of the economy and industry of the Republic of Srpska.
Yesterday, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop and Metropolitan of Zvornik-Tuzla Fotije, the company Orao celebrated its patron saint for the first time – Saint Longinus the Martyr.
